Encanto 2021 is an American computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by The Walt Disney Studios. The studio’s 60th film is directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard and written by writers Charles Castro Smith, Yvette Merino and Clark Spencer, with an original score by Created by Lynn-Manuel Miranda.
The film stars Stephanie Beatrice, Maria Cecilia Botero, John Leguizamo, Mauro Castillo, Jessica Darrow, Angie Seppe Da, Carolina Gaitan, Diane Guerrero and Wilmer Valderrama. In the film, Mirabel Madrigal (Beatrice) is the only member of her family who is not gifted with magic. When she learns that magic is in danger of disappearing, she sets out to find out what’s going on to save her family and home.

The film premiered at the El-Capitan Theater in Los-Angeles on November 3, 2021, and opened in the U.S. and Canada on November 24 for 30 days in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Critics gave the film positive reviews, praising its emotion, animation and music. The film didn’t do well in theaters due to its shorter run time, but it remains the highest-grossing animated film of 2021 with $216 million and more than $216 million worldwide.
It’s being called a commercial success when it launches on Disney+ on December 24, 2021. The song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” peaked at the top of the US Billboard 200 and number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Encanto was nominated for three Gold Awards for Globe and won Best Animated Feature.

Forced to flee her home due to armed-conflict, young Alma Madrigal loses her husband Pedro, but saves her triplets: Juliet, Pepa and Bruno. Through “Miracle,” her candles acquire a magical quality, blowing up their followers, creating a sentient house, a “hut” inhabited by shepherds, and a magical shelter sheltered by the surrounding alpine town Hideout: “encanto”. Fifty years later, the candles continue to burn and the town thrives under its protection.
The magic of the candle gives each idyllic child superhuman abilities, which they use to help the villagers. However, Bruno was maligned for his precognition talent, and he disappeared 10 years before the film’s main events. Meanwhile, Juliet’s youngest daughter Mirabell is treated differently for mysteriously not receiving a gift.
Pepa’s youngest son, Antonio, was born with the ability to talk to animals, and the family posed for pictures but ignored Mirabell. Mirabell suddenly saw a crack in the hut and saw the flame of the candle go out, but her warning fell on deaf ears when the hut appeared to the others intact. Mirabell is determined to save the magic of the miracle.
The next day, Mirabelle talks to her superpowered sister Luisa, who believes that Bruno’s room, located in a forbidden tower in Casita, might provide some clues about the phenomenon. There, Mirabell discovered a cave and recovered a shard of opaque emerald glass, forming an image that shows her causing the hut to fall apart. After Mirabell narrowly escapes the cave, Louisa finds her talent waning.

Later in the evening, Isabella, Mirabelle’s sister, who is scheduled to be engaged to neighbour Mariano Guzman, can bloom as she pleases. Mirabell’s oldest cousin, Dolores, who has superhuman hearing, blurts out that she overheard Mirabell and her father talking about Bruno’s vision. The cabin begins to malfunction again, causing everyone’s power to spiral out of control, ruining the night and Mariano’s marriage proposal. As everyone flees the chaos, Mirabell follows a group of mice and discovers the secret passage behind a portrait where she encounters the hidden Bruno.
He realizes that what he thinks of Mirabell might put her at odds with her family, so he breaks his vision and disappears to protect her, while staying in the walls near the house because he still loves them. At Mirabell’s urging, Bruno reluctantly creates another image showing the inevitable destruction of the cottage, with Mirabell hugging a young woman they believe is Isabell.
